The book contains the German trans­la­tion of ʿAmmār al-Baṣrī’s Kitāb al-burhān (pp. 9–86), and a study dealing with the rhetoric back­ground of the book (pp. 87–171). The Nest­o­rian ʿAmmār al-Baṣrī, follo­wing the tradi­tion of the Greek Church Fathers, presented all his views about the much treated ques­tions of the Chris­tian-Muslim reli­gious discus­sions during the famous “dis­pute of Baghdad” having resort to the convin­cing methods of the Greek rhetoric. These methods, through the reli­gious discus­sions, have been intro­duced to the scien­tific, mainly to the theo­lo­gical lite­ra­ture of Islam.
