Chris Coppola was born in the late sixties in Paris and developed an early passion for music, skateboards, and tattoos during his youth. In the early 90`s, he became the assistant to a fashion photographer and started working for several French publications focusing on music, skateboard, tattoo, and pop culture in general. He is the creator and the co-author of three volumes in the Tattooisme series of books which were among the first to treat tattoos as an art form worthy of serious attention. He is also a contributor to the pop art book Tattoo Stickers Collectors and was the editor in chief of the magazine Rise Tattoo.
